Preserving Walt Disney's Railroad Legacy

Welcome to our website! The Carolwood Society is dedicated to preserving the personal railroad legacy of Walt Disney.
Walt Disney always loved trains and he was one of America's greatest railfans. Through his own initiative and personal financial resources, he was responsible for preserving real steam railroading for generations to enjoy at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and other Disney theme parks around the world.
Walt Disney helped to build, and enjoyed sharing, one of the most intricately detailed miniature live-steam home railroads ever created: the one-eighth scale Carolwood Pacific Railroad, the backyard pike located at his estate in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles.

Walt Disney's Barn
Amidst his railroad, Walt built a barn where he could monitor and control the operation of his railroad. Walt's Barn also served as a workshop and a place for Walt to relax. The Barn is open to the public in Los Angeles' Griffith Park.
The Carolwood Pacific provided the launching point for Walt's vision of a family-oriented themed amusement park that we all now know as Disneyland.

I someday wish to visit this unique real running railroad at Griffith Park ,
I hear They are having a BBQ there tomorrow 7/16/16. Please check the website for more information. As there will be Disney Legend Animators there and other famous people.

I would like to thank Carolwood Society for allowing me to post this on our blog.
