Book Nook In Tomorrowland Review: The Art Of Minnie Mouse From Disney Editions. #124
One of the most famous quotes by Walt Disney is "It All Started With A Mouse". This is true, but it is actually TWO mice that helped Walt start on his journey. "When you look back across the decades of Minnie's career, It's apparent she has always been able to hold her own as a unique personality. Even today, With recent appearances in Get A Horse! (2013), The Mickey Mouse television shorts, and the Kingdom Hearts Video Games, Minnie is a thespian who performs far beyond the range of "Just" Ink and Paint. Cute, sometimes quirky, and rarely afraid to get in on the action, she's just as much an interesting character and role model now as she was in 1928 and fully capable of saving the day." Quote from Becky Cline, Director, Walt Disney Archives.
Minnie first appeared in Steamboat Willie in 1928, right along side of Mickey, and is still his steadfast companion to this day. This beautiful book is all about Minnie, and rightfully so.
The first section of the book highlights her animated Filmography. From Steamboat Willie to Get A Horse! in 2013. Complete with Dates and formats. I have to say, there are appearances by her I certainly never knew about!
Section Two features her Milestones. Key turning points and Milestones. This section is the most interesting in my opinion. Minnie has has a lasting legacy, and major influences on popular culture. Ub Iwerks originally drew Both Minnie And Mickey, and Walt himself was the original voice of Minnie. This chapter captures information on their first dance, as well as first kiss! In chronological order, with dates and lots of photos, this is the highlight of the read for me. The origin for the ever stylish Mouse ears, is contributed to the Mickey Mouse Club, Where the girls wore a style with the bow on top. This chapter includes various milestones, including Minnie Moo, Disney Dollars, Toontown, And of course, the latest feature Rock The Dots! Which kicked off in 2016. You can currently find those fabulous Minnie Mouse Dots on all kinds of merchandise everywhere in the Parks!
Section Three is a gallery of Minnie Mouse inspired art, from the Artists of Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. I have chosen just a few to show you, I can honestly say that every artist has done a beautiful job of capturing Minnie and her elegant, sometimes quirky style in their works. Diana Tran Gabriela Zapata Jeffrey Thomas Jeff Shelley Robert Farrell
I have to say, I truly love the Pirate Minnie. The tightrope walking Minnie is a close second!
I have to tell you, Minnie fan or Disney Fan, this book is a must have for anyone who loves Disney history. From Animation, to fashion to general popular culture, this is a stand out book for sure! You can find this book online, by Disney Publishing, and bookstores everywhere.

Do you have a love for Steam Locomotives, as Walt Disney did ?? Have you ever been to the Carolwood Society. #67
Preserving Walt Disney's Railroad Legacy
Welcome to our website! The Carolwood Society is dedicated to preserving the personal railroad legacy of Walt Disney.
Walt Disney always loved trains and he was one of America's greatest railfans. Through his own initiative and personal financial resources, he was responsible for preserving real steam railroading for generations to enjoy at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and other Disney theme parks around the world.
Walt Disney helped to build, and enjoyed sharing, one of the most intricately detailed miniature live-steam home railroads ever created: the one-eighth scale Carolwood Pacific Railroad, the backyard pike located at his estate in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles.
Walt Disney's Barn
Amidst his railroad, Walt built a barn where he could monitor and control the operation of his railroad. Walt's Barn also served as a workshop and a place for Walt to relax. The Barn is open to the public in Los Angeles' Griffith Park.
The Carolwood Pacific provided the launching point for Walt's vision of a family-oriented themed amusement park that we all now know as Disneyland.

I would like to thank Carolwood Society for allowing me to post this on our blog.

Here is an Article I saw posted in last months AAA Westways magazine. Ears to 60 milestones. #16
Few Disneyland visitors notice the park bench inside Main Street U.S.A.'s Opera House. Originally in Griffith Park. This bench may have been one where Walt Disney passed afternoons watching his daughters on the merry-go-round and, by his account, began envisioning Disneyland. As Disneyland Resort celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, the bench is a unique connection to this towering cultural figure. Here are a few other SoCal locations that played a role in Disney's remarkable career. written by Matt Jaffe.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN: UNCLE ROBERT'S GARAGE
When Walt moved to California from Missouri in 1923, he lived with his Uncle Robert on Kingswell Avenue in Los Feliz. Walt paid $5 rent per week, and used a redwood garage--a shed by todays standards--as his animation studio. Reassembled at Garden Grove's Stanley Ranch Museum, it`s now filled with Disneyana, a vintage projector and a workbench likely assembled by Walt. Adults, $5 donation; children, $1 donation. Tours at 1:30 pm on the first and third Sundays of the month. 12174 Euclid Street, Garden Grove, Ca. (714) 530-8871 www.stanleyranchmuseum.com .
HOME, SWEET HOME: WALT'S DISNEYLAND APARTMENT
In the window above Main Street U.S.A. fire station in Disneyland, a lamp shines day and night. The lamp marks the 500-square-foot apartment where Walt often stayed with his family, making sandwiches on a grilled cheese press (it`s still there complete with knife marks). You can go inside the apartment during the three-hour Walk in Walt's Disneyland footsteps tours, an intimate look at the man and the park. Tours, $109. (714) 781-8687
DINNER WITH WALT: THE TAM O'SHANTER
One of Walt's favorites, The Tam O'Shanter restaurant was near the Disney Studios on Hyperion Avenue. In a half-timbered building where Snow White would feel at home, this 1922 spot displays original color illustrations by Disney Studio artists. And you can make reservations for Walt's fireside Table 31. 2980 Los Feliz Boulevard, Los Angeles. (323) 644-0228; www.tamoshanter.com
ALL ABOARD: WALT'S RAILROAD BARN
It comes as no surprise that Walt loved trains. In the early 1950s, he even had a 1/8-scale steam line, The Carolwood Pacific Railroad, on his Holmby Hills estate. The railroads red barn was later moved to the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum in Griffith Park. Inside, you'll see train and Disney memorabilia, including engines and a section of track from Walt's backyard railroad. Free. Open 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. the third Sunday of the month. 5202 Zoo Drive, Los Angeles. (818) 934-0173; www.carolwood.com
