DISNEYLAND ANNOUNCES SOCAL DISCOUNTED TICKETS. #53

The beginning of the year marks another round of specially discounted Disneyland tickets for Southern California residents, the resort announced on Wednesday. The cheaper rates for local residents would be available for several multi-day ticket options to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks, including two that provide park hopper access. Starting Wednesday, Southern Californians will have the option to buy a two-day ticket for $149, according to a Disneyland Resort news release. The ticket is limited to one park per day. A two-day pass with park hopper option can be purchased for $189. For non-residents, the prices are $185 and $215 respectively, according to the resort’s website. Three-day tickets good for one park per day would cost Southern California guests $179, and $219 with the ability to go between the theme parks each day. Normally, those tickets go for $235 and $275. Single-day admission currently costs $99 for guests above 10 years old, and $93 for children between the ages of 3 and 9. A park hopper pass can be added for an additional $56 on a single-day ticket, or $40 for multi-day tickets. According to the release, the specially discounted tickets to the Anaheim parks were only available on the four purchase options between Jan. 6 and May 19 of this year. They expire on May 26, 2016, and cannot be used between March 20 and April 2. In order to be eligible for the lower price, residents must show proof that they live between zip codes 90000 and 93599; Northern Baja California residents with zip codes between 21000 through 22999 can also purchase the discounted passes. A similar offer has been in place at the beginning of almost each year since 2003, according to the Orange County Register. The announcement comes just days before Disneyland will shutter several attractions — some permanently — as it prepares to begin construction on a new “Star Wars”-themed land. Big Thunder Ranch — including Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, Big Thunder Ranch Petting Zoo and Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree — will be open through Jan. 10 before permanently closing. Several attractions along the Rivers of America will temporarily shut down after this weekend due to the ongoing construction. They are: the Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia; Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island; Davy Crocket Explorer Canoes; and the “Fantasmic!” show
