Nine Things to ‘Know Before You Go’ to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort

Michael Ramirez
by , Editorial Content Director, Disneyland Resort
When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at the Disneyland Resort in just a few days, you will be invited to step into the Star Wars universe for the very first time and live your own Star Warsadventures. To help you plan ahead and prepare for your visit, here are nine things to “know before you go” to this epic, new land, opening May 31.
1. Reservations are required to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge between May 31 and June 23. If visiting during this time, valid theme park admission and a reservation are needed to enter the new land at Disneyland park. If you have a reservation, you may check in at Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland up to 2 hours prior to your reservation start time, and go to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge entrance as directed when your reservation begins. When you check in, please bring your reservation confirmation (including QR code), government-issued ID and all members of your party listed on the reservation. At this time, general reservations are no longer available on Disneyland.com.
2. You can still get a reservation to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge by staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel between May 31 and June 23*. Guests staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels between May 31 and June 23 will receive a designated reservation to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during their stay (one reservation per registered guest; valid theme park admission required). Hotel guests will be notified of their reservation date and time with their registration confirmation. You may book a stay at Disneyland.com/Hotels or call (714) 520-5060. If the hotel reservation is cancelled, the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge reservation will be cancelled.
3. No standby line will be available to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge between May 31 and June 23. Only guests with reservations will be able to access the land during this time.*
4. If you plan on visiting opening day, May 31, there is no need for guests with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge reservations to arrive early because of the reservation system we have in place. You can begin to check in two hours prior to your reservation start time. You may begin parking at select theme park parking lots at midnight.
5. Reservations will no longer be required to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge after June 23. As needed, to manage demand, Disneyland Resort will implement a virtual queueing system to visit the new land so you can enjoy the rest of the resort while waiting to visit Batuu. The Disneyland app will have a dedicated module, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Status and Access, available from the main page, on which you can request to join a boarding group to visit the land, once you have entered the park. Boarding groups will be sent a push notification when it is their turn to enter the land and they can monitor status of boarding groups from the app. There will also be the ability to join a boarding group from select locations inside Disneyland park, if you are not using the app. The boarding group is tied to admission media that will be scanned upon entry into the land. Signage throughout the park will also display boarding group status. Admission into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be subject to capacity, and having an assigned boarding group will not guarantee entrance to the land.
6. The current Disneyland Resort costume policy will be in effect in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Costumes may not be worn by guests 14 years of age or older. Appropriate Disney bounding – dressing in outfits inspired by favorite characters – is permitted.
7. Download the official Disneyland mobile app to plan ahead and make the most of your visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The Disneyland app** allows you to check the attraction wait time, locate character encounters and even utilize the mobile ordering feature at select dining locations when you are in the new land.
8. Prepare for your visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge by downloading the Play Disney Parks mobile app in advance of your arrival. The Play Disney Parks app** allows you to deepen your engagement with the land and interact with the world around you on the planet Batuu. Should you choose to engage through the app, you will be able to interact with droids, translate Aurebesh, scan cargo crates and other containers to collect virtual items, and more.
9. Inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, our goal is to provide a great guest experience. For example, while you are in the queue at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, you will have the ability to purchase snacks, utilize a continued process to visit the restroom, enjoy cast interactions, and also engage with an in-queue game while using the Play Disney Parks mobile app to make wait times fun, interactive and enjoyable.
For more information, check out our “Know Before You Go” video series below:
*Access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge experiences is subject to capacity. After June 23, 2019, when reservations will no longer be required, access to Disneyland Park, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and experiences is subject to capacity.
**Message, data and roaming rates may apply. Availability subject to handset limitations, and features may vary by handset, service provider or otherwise. Coverage and app stores not available everywhere. If you’re under 18, get your parents’ permission first.

We hope to see you there, and may the Force be with you!

New Pirates Set to Join the Crew of Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Paris July 24 #148

I am not fond of the changes that will be coming to the Walt Disney World and the original Disneyland attraction Pirates of the Caribbean.
If something works, these past 50 years. Why change it?

So if you went back in time, would you make the pirates change their ways, Yes It is not a good thing to buy a person, But that is what they did in the past. And if Walt Disney and Marc Davis saw it like that for the attraction, Then why change it?

I have seen a lot of remarks on Facebook, including some from me. I think they have changed the ride enough, I was okay with the changes of Capt. Jack Sparrow.  Not so much with the women chasing the pirates, But I can live with that.
Once again this is just My opinion, not anyone else's on the writing staff here at the e-ticket blog.
Disney executives, Please don't destroy my favorite ride, You already did that so I cannot ride the Matterhorn Bobsleds.

Now for the people who are wondering what I am talking about, here is the article from Disney Parks Blog.

When Pirates of the Caribbean re-opens at Disneyland Paris on July 24, guests will discover new surprises as well as a band of new buccaneers. The blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean” films provided the inspiration for our Imagineering team to come up with new twists and turns in our story, and a chance to introduce new characters and magic to this classic attraction.

Captain Barbossa, from the blockbuster films, will appear in the attraction for the first time, joining a skeletal crew in a scene unique to Disneyland Paris. Also, ghostly visages of Davy Jones and Blackbeard will warn that “dead men DO tell tales!”
Throughout the attraction, we’ve enhanced the show with new Audio-Animatronics figures, costumes, special effects, lighting and sound, including some of the now-classic musical themes from the films. Of course, the classic “A Pirates Life for Me!” song will continue to underscore the attraction.

You’ll even discover that a familiar character is playing a new role joining the pirates ranks and helping the local townspeople “unload” their valuables at the Mercado auction. In the U.S., this famous redhead will appear in a similar scene at the Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland park in 2018 following a previously scheduled refurbishment. Click here to view an artist’s rendering of the new Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort scenes.
Disneyland Paris guests will also discover some changes to the Blue Lagoon Restaurant, re-opening as Captain Jack’s. It seems that Captain Jack won the restaurant in a wager and is now welcoming pirates of all ages to relax over a drink and hot meal. The interior of the restaurant has been re-themed and the establishment has been staffed with a fun-loving band of pirates.
The adventures set sail on July 24 in Adventureland at Disneyland Paris.

My last two cents. If you too are mad about these changes, Please leave a comment below.

Wildlife Wednesday: Explore the Magic of Nature at Disney Parks and Resorts #104

Last year, the Disney Conservation Fund unveiled a philanthropic strategy to help protect the planet by collaborating with leading nonprofit organizations that help threatened wildlife and inspire a lifelong love for nature in young people.

Research shows that children who are exposed to nature are healthier and happier, and it is widely believed that these outdoor experiences lead kids to care about the planet during their lifetime. If you are looking for ways you and your family can explore and connect with nature during your next vacation to a Walt Disney Park or Resort, we’ve got you covered! Take a peek below at some of the adventurous experiences available to you and your family.
We also have some thrilling news for you today! While we love celebrating Earth Day on April 22, we will be partying for the planet all weekend this year! Join us at Disney’s Animal Kingdom April 21-23 for unique, inspiring and educational encounters throughout the park during Party for the Planet presented by Disneynature.

We’ll be sharing more specific details about these engaging in-park offerings as we get closer to this exciting weekend. Until then, we invite you to take a look back at last year’s Party for the Planet presented by Disneynature!
