A LEGEND HAS RETIRED FROM COKE CORNER UPDATE WITH RAGTIME ROBERT GLENN #131

Hello "E" Ticket followers. As some of you may recall we interviewed Disneyland Coke Corner Pianist, Ragtime Robert Glenn in 2015.
For those of you who haven't read the interview, I will post the link here:
https://etickettotomorrowland.blogspot.com/2015/05/dlr-chat-with-disneyland-musician.html

A lot has happened in these two past years and we thought we would catch up on what he has been up to.

We first of all would like to thank you once again for taking time out of your day to chat with us.

  1. ETTT: How have you been Robert, since the last time we saw you playing at Coke Corner back in 2015?
RRG:
Well I turned 65 in 2016 and 66 in less than a month and began feeling the aches and pains of performing in the elements and had to go out on medical last Sept. and decided to retire. I had a goal of making 10 years with the company which I achieved in May of 2016.

  2. ETTT: Wow, So you are retired?  We will miss you playing at the park.
Will you still be playing Piano elsewhere?

RGG:
I hope to do shows a couple of times a year and maybe find a bar or restaurant to perform at but not for a bit. Right now I’m just enjoying each day.

  3. ETTT: What will you do with all your extra time?  Travel? See family? Will you still be visiting Disneyland?

RGG:
I will visit Disneyland and always post in FB when I do. I don’t travel much mostly a homebody kind of guy but will spend lots more time with my grand children I hope.

  4. ETTT: Just recently I bought your CD , We love the arrangements you did on the CD, Is it still available at Disneyland? or do you have a website where people can order it online?

RGG:
As far as I know they still have copies on Mainstreet but I’m not sure if that will continue now that I am a retired cast member however my cd can be obtained direct from me at www.ragtimerobert.com

  5. ETTT: Will you be recording any new music?

RGG:
As long as my hand and fingers work at all I will be creating new arrangements and possibly writing songs as well.

  6. ETTT: Once again do you have a website where people can reach out to you?

RGG:
The easiest way to reach me is on FB by just typing in Robert Glenn into the search bar or ragtimerobert for the fan page.

  7. ETTT: Is there anything else like to add?

RGG:
Just want to thank every single one of you who have sat with me over the last 10 years and given me so many treasured memories.

Thanks again  Robert for taking time to fill us in on what our favorite Musician has been up to. And we appreciate being able to sit and listen, Video tape and request all those beautiful songs you've played for us and everyone else these past 10 years. We wish you best of luck on your new adventure, and hope to bump into you at the parks or elsewhere.

Knotts Berry Farm`s Return of the Timber Mountain Log Ride returns May 30th # 2

Knott’s Berry Farm Updates a Classic
Timber Mountain Log Ride Will Undergo Major Renovation

Buena Park, CA – One of the oldest log flume rides in the country will be the beneficiary of a multi-million dollar refurbishment and restoration project that will begin this January. The classic attraction, which opened at Knott’s Berry Farm in 1969, remains as one of the most elaborate log flume rides in the U.S.

The $3.5 million attraction was originally funded entirely by its designer Bud Hurlbut who had previously designed Knott’s Berry Farm’s classic Calico Mine Ride. Hurlbut, a pioneer in the theme park attraction industry, wanted his flume ride to be a completely immersive experience. The Calico Log Ride, as it was originally named, takes guests through an 85-foot-high by 330-foot-long mountain range themed to a nineteenth-century lumber camp. The ride, housed in an eight-story building, includes 24,000 gallons of water that circulates free floating logs past a variety of mechanical figures and taxidermied animals culminating in a forty-two-foot free fall.

The much anticipated attraction opened in July 11, 1969 with screen legend John Wayne taking the inaugural ride. The Knott’s Timber Mountain Log Ride remains the most popular ride in the park, surpassing all of Knott’s other attractions in ridership.

“The Timber Mountain Log Ride not only embodies the spirit of Knott’s Berry Farm, but it also set the bar for all themed attractions that came after,” says Raffi Kaprelyan, Knott’s general manager who worked for Bud Hurlbut from 1979-1983. “Bud Hurlbut made numerous contributions to Knott’s Berry Farm, but I think that the Timber Mountain Log Ride remains his crowning achievement.”

Garner Holt Productions of San Bernardino will assist in the revitalization project that is expected to take five months. Garner Holt is the world’s largest designer and manufacturer of animatronics for theme parks, museums, dining and retail locations and has built nearly 3,000 animatronic figures and hundreds of animated props and show action systems. Garner Holt will work with the Knott’s team to upgrade all the ride figures and sets as well as add new scenes and characters to enhance the ride experience while still maintaining the original theming and storyline of the attraction.
