Limited-Time Celebrations Planned for the 90th Anniversary of Mickey Mouse as shared by the Disney parks blog #180

It was all started by a mouse. Now 90 years later, we are in party-prep mode for the birthday of the one and only Mickey Mouse. With a milestone as big as 90 years, one party simply will not do! That’s why Mickey’s birthday celebration will span across the globe with a series of events at all Disney Parks sites around the world, including the previously announced World’s Biggest Mouse Party – a limited-time, global celebration of Mickey and Minnie – as well as ‘Mickey: The True Original Exhibition’ in New York City.
  • Walt Disney World Resort in Florida will celebrate Mickey’s birthday from November 16-18 with special merchandise and food & beverage items as well as the chance for guests to celebrate at Magic Kingdom Park during the “Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It!” Street Party, sing “Happy Birthday” along with the Dapper Dans on Main Street, U.S.A., and join in a special birthday dance party at Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland. Then in 2019, Walt Disney World will continue celebrating when World’s Biggest Mouse Party comes to the resort.

  • Disneyland Resort in California will host a celebration cavalcade for Mickey Mouse on November 18, featuring some of his special friends and the Disneyland Band, starting at “it’s a small world” and pausing for a special moment at Sleeping Beauty Castle before continuing down Main Street, U.S.A., to Town Square. The party continues when World’s Biggest Mouse Party begins at Disneyland Resort in 2019.
  • Disney Cruise Line will join the celebration when World’s Biggest Mouse Party takes to the seas in 2019.
  • Shanghai Disney Resort will be the first to kick off World’s Biggest Mouse Party with a brand-new Mickey-themed float at the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Tourism Festival on September 15 to commemorate the Shanghai launch of World’s Biggest Mouse Party. At Shanghai Disneyland, a giant birthday card will be installed next to “Storytellers” statue, featuring birthday wishes from Mickey’s pals. From November 16-18, guests will enjoy themed food and merchandise offerings as well as the opportunity to sing “Happy Birthday” to Mickey just before the nighttime spectacular show each evening, all culminating with a special nighttime birthday spectacular at Enchanted Storybook Castle on November 18.
  • Hong Kong Disneyland will begin its World’s Biggest Mouse Party activations on Mickey’s birthday, November 18, with commemorative park tickets, special food & beverage and merchandise, a hotel room overlay and “We Love Mickey” projection show through February 2019. And Hong Kong Disneyland guests will receive special birthday stickers, available only on November 18.
  • Tokyo Disney Resort will join the celebration this fall with special decorations and merchandise.
  • Disneyland Paris will celebrate the World’s Biggest Mouse Party this fall and into winter with new holiday season entertainment and special surprises.
“Mickey: The True Original Exhibition,” an interactive art exhibit, will open in New York from November 8, 2018 – February 10, 2019. This immersive, pop-up art exhibition is inspired by Mickey’s status as a ‘true original’ and his global impact on popular culture and art. From his beginning in black and white in Steamboat Willie to the technicolor world of more than 100 cartoon shorts, exhibition guests will step into an unforgettable journey of Mickey moments reimagined.
“As Walt said, ‘I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing—that it was all started by a mouse’,” said Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products. “From ‘The True Original Exhibition’ to a year-long celebration in our parks around the world, we are honoring the deep connection that families and fans have made with Mickey and Minnie Mouse for nearly a century.”
Mickey’s 90th is definitely a “mouse”-do this fall! With so many birthday parties to choose from, one question remains: which will you be a part of?

Disneyland Railroad and Rivers of America Attractions Return to Disneyland Park this Summer with New Magic #142

When the iconic Disneyland Railroad and the Rivers of America attractions return to Disneyland park this summer, guests will discover new magic aboard these classic experiences. As we first shared last year, and seen in the artist’s rendering below (courtesy of Walt Disney Imagineering), the gorgeous new north bank of the Rivers of America will feature a beautiful new waterfront and an elevated trestle over which the iconic Disneyland Railroad will travel.
The Rivers of America will continue to celebrate the Mississippi, Columbia, Missouri and Rio Grande rivers, enhanced now with a new Columbia Gorge section, highlighted by thundering waterfalls – signaling the return of large waterfalls to the rivers. Longtime Disneyland park fans will remember Big Thunder River Waterfall and Twin Sisters Waterfall; five spectacular new waterfalls along the Rivers of America harken back to these favorites – all on display for guests aboard the Mark Twain RiverboatSailing Ship Columbia and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes.

Guests will also experience these features from aboard the Disneyland Railroad, which will travel across the rocks on a trestle that will even extend onto the river, providing a breathtaking view of the new waterfalls. And, for the first time ever, the Disneyland Railroad will be making a left-hand turn as it circles the park.

Disneyland Railroad and Rivers of America Attractions Return to Disneyland Park this Summer with New Magic

In addition to the new waterfalls, Disneyland park fans will spot some familiar faces along the Rivers of America as well as throwbacks to Frontierland’s past. The Indian Village, now in a new location, will include a more prominently featured Shaman, seen telling the story of how the hummingbird taught the Indian chief to make a flute.

We’ll have more to share on these returning attractions soon – including opening dates – so keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog.

I want to thank Erin Glover for sharing her article from the Disney Parks Blog.
I cannot wait to ride one of my favorite Attractions once again.

Visiting with one of the original Disney Stores #138

How many of you, couldn't wait to go visit the Newest sensation. A Disney Store coming to a mall near you?
I know I couldn't.
When I would visit it, It would seem like a Small Emporium on Main Street U. S. A. at Disneyland.
I bought my 1st Annual Pass there, and Many many VCR tapes, that came with a watch and a lithograph.
Most of the figures and scenes moved. Like the propellers on the plane. Or Alice in the Wonderland scene.
Now 40 years later the only scene that still moves is the Little Mermaid.
I talked to the management and they said the store is going to be renovated, but they will restore the figures and get them moving again.
They will keep the same kind of Theme, just updated.
It was a nice day visiting our favorite place, The Disney Store.

A LEGEND HAS RETIRED FROM COKE CORNER UPDATE WITH RAGTIME ROBERT GLENN #131

Hello "E" Ticket followers. As some of you may recall we interviewed Disneyland Coke Corner Pianist, Ragtime Robert Glenn in 2015.
For those of you who haven't read the interview, I will post the link here:
https://etickettotomorrowland.blogspot.com/2015/05/dlr-chat-with-disneyland-musician.html

A lot has happened in these two past years and we thought we would catch up on what he has been up to.

We first of all would like to thank you once again for taking time out of your day to chat with us.

  1. ETTT: How have you been Robert, since the last time we saw you playing at Coke Corner back in 2015?
RRG:
Well I turned 65 in 2016 and 66 in less than a month and began feeling the aches and pains of performing in the elements and had to go out on medical last Sept. and decided to retire. I had a goal of making 10 years with the company which I achieved in May of 2016.

  2. ETTT: Wow, So you are retired?  We will miss you playing at the park.
Will you still be playing Piano elsewhere?

RGG:
I hope to do shows a couple of times a year and maybe find a bar or restaurant to perform at but not for a bit. Right now I’m just enjoying each day.

  3. ETTT: What will you do with all your extra time?  Travel? See family? Will you still be visiting Disneyland?

RGG:
I will visit Disneyland and always post in FB when I do. I don’t travel much mostly a homebody kind of guy but will spend lots more time with my grand children I hope.

  4. ETTT: Just recently I bought your CD , We love the arrangements you did on the CD, Is it still available at Disneyland? or do you have a website where people can order it online?

RGG:
As far as I know they still have copies on Mainstreet but I’m not sure if that will continue now that I am a retired cast member however my cd can be obtained direct from me at www.ragtimerobert.com

  5. ETTT: Will you be recording any new music?

RGG:
As long as my hand and fingers work at all I will be creating new arrangements and possibly writing songs as well.

  6. ETTT: Once again do you have a website where people can reach out to you?

RGG:
The easiest way to reach me is on FB by just typing in Robert Glenn into the search bar or ragtimerobert for the fan page.

  7. ETTT: Is there anything else like to add?

RGG:
Just want to thank every single one of you who have sat with me over the last 10 years and given me so many treasured memories.

Thanks again  Robert for taking time to fill us in on what our favorite Musician has been up to. And we appreciate being able to sit and listen, Video tape and request all those beautiful songs you've played for us and everyone else these past 10 years. We wish you best of luck on your new adventure, and hope to bump into you at the parks or elsewhere.

HOW MUCH VINTAGE DISNEYLAND/DISNEY COLLECTION DO YOU HAVE? #121

I was in a vintage Disneyland group on Facebook tonight, somebody had asked what do people collect?

I went to my drawer where I keep my vintage Disneyland Park maps and entrance tickets. I had responded:
Wow!! I just took a trip down memory lane.
Before I met my wife, I thought I was Disney's biggest fan. I was wrong.
The 1st set of pictures are what I collected from Disneyland starting around 1979 - 2005.

What we are about to show you is just a small collection of what we have, and is not including, Theme park hotel blankets, Monorail toy sets, Disneyland and Walt Disney World HO train sets, Metal Lunch box's, Movie posters, Collectible Signed and numbered 30th Anniversary Posters, and So much more.

Do you remember going to the parks and having to but ticket books with tickets that were labeled A,B,C,D,E Yes this is how we got the name for our blog. the "E" Ticket was for the thrill rides.
I also asked my parents if I could keep the parking ticket stub at the end of the day. Let me remind you, I had to fight off four other brothers for that ticket.

After a few years they said here you keep the entrance tickets and the Park maps. Little did I know, they would be asking me to see what bands were playing and where.

When I was old enough to go on my own, I started collecting the maps. but The best time I had was Grad night 1983. I got to see Berlin. They played on Tom Sawyer's Island.
Who here remembers the band, PAPA Doo Run Run? Les Brown and his Band of Renown, or KRASH.

My books share the vintage rides that are long gone  like Inner space, or Country Bear Jamboree. They featured New rides like Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain. Refurbished lands, and so on.

One day I was working in Corona Ca. and this little old lady came into our Family owned music store, looking for some sheet music. She was wearing a white beret with a diamond studded Mickey Mouse on it. I said I liked her hat. She told me that she had worked with Walt Disney and that she was his 1st!
I thought wow that is kind of odd too tell someone, Until she explained who she was and what she meant by that.
She asked Have you ever watched "The Alice Comedy's" ?
I said yes. then she told me she was Alice.  I was honored to of met her, someone who actually worked with my Hero Walt Disney.
Her name was Virginia Davis. I had to get a autograph from her, so I grabbed my only Disney item in my wallet a Mickey's Halloween Treat $19.00 Pass ticket. she signed it. :)

So as I was telling you I thought I was a big Disney fan, Then My wife put me to shame. as you can see just a small part of her collection of Books, Video's,  DVD's, Artwork, Movie Posters, Toys, Books oh Yes I did say Books lol.

This is our place, The Black Hole
Sorry that a few of the pictures came out blurry, Remember you can click on them to enlarge them.
I hope you have enjoyed a small part of out look into collecting Disney Items and hope you will comment on what you collect.
Thanks for following our Disney blog.
