D23 Expo Returns to the Anaheim Convention Center #199

Well It is about that time of year, The ultimate Disney fan Expo returns to Anaheim Ca.
September 9th, 10th and 11th D23 Expo

The Walt Disney Archives Invites Guests to Explore 100 Years of Wonder at D23 Expo 2022

By the D23 Team

The Walt Disney Archives returns to D23 Expo presented by Visa with an all-new exhibit, exciting panels, and a closer look at a rarely-seen piece of Disney history!

Step Into an All-New Exhibit
We know fans look forward to a new exhibit from the Walt Disney Archives that lets D23 Expo attendees explore Disney history right on the show floor—and this year’s exhibit will be especially timely. Guests will experience Walt Disney Archives presents Step in Time, an exhibit celebrating the nearly 100-year history of The Walt Disney Company. As part of the kick-off to Disney100, this chronological exhibition will showcase Walt Disney Archives historical assets like never before with immersive, themed environments from animated shorts, films, and film premieres, as well as television productions and Disney Parks favorites, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Mary Poppins, Tron, and Walt Disney World Resort’s Haunted Mansion. The exhibition will provide fans an opportunity to experience some of the most iconic Disney moments over the course of September 9, 10, and 11 at the Anaheim Convention Center during the Expo hosted by D23: The Official Disney Fan Club.

A timeline in the center of the exhibit will showcase the breadth of extraordinary Disney events over the past century and will act as a guide for visitors as they journey through the 12,000-square-foot experience. Guests will have the chance to literally “Step in Time” into various immersive areas around the perimeter of the space, showcasing rare historical objects as never before, in recreations of the settings from which they originated.

The gallery space will be divided into nine highly themed areas, inviting fans to capture photos and become part of Disney’s rich history themselves. From captaining the boat in Steamboat Willie, walking the blue carpet at the premiere of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and visiting with the carousel horses from Mary Poppins, to being serenaded by Breathless Mahoney at Club Ritz (Dick Tracy), visiting Flynn’s Arcade (Tron), and coming face-to-face with the bride in the attic of the Haunted Mansion, fans will have the opportunity to relive moments from 100 Years of Wonder, all while making new memories to last a lifetime.

The Walt Disney Archives Stage Returns
Disney history fans, rejoice! The popular Walt Disney Archives Stage returns, hosting more than a dozen panels and presentations throughout the weekend. Notables such as Disney Legend Bill Farmer, Walt Disney Archives director Becky Cline, author and historian Graham Allan, Walt Disney Imagineering global ambassador Bob Weis, Imagineers from the Illusioneering Lab, and historian and artist Stacia Martin will offer a unique peek “behind the magic.” Fans will enjoy exploring many of Disney’s worlds, including the impressive 50-year legacy of the Main Street Electrical Parade, a look back at the 1980s and 1990s edition of the Mickey Mouse Club, and the first half-century of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Plus, join the Archives team and special guests on the 1,250-seat Backlot stage on Saturday, September 10, at 10 a.m. for a look at the creation of the upcoming Disney100: The Exhibition, which opens next February at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. Sorry Saturday Tickets are sold out.

An Exhibit We’re Just Plane Crazy About
Earlier this year, it was announced that Walt Disney’s Grumman Gulfstream I airplane will be on display at D23 Expo. To accompany the return of this piece of Disney history, which is having its exterior restored and will be available for guests to see in the Arena of the Anaheim Convention Center, the Walt Disney Archives has curated an all-new exhibit featuring specially selected items that represent the history of the aircraft. Included will be a customized instrument panel originally located near Walt’s favorite onboard seat (enabling him to monitor flight conditions), a telephone handset (which gave Walt a direct line of communication to the pilot in the cockpit), and a flight bag adorned with an image of Mickey Mouse sitting on the tail of the famed plane.

A limited number of single-day tickets for Sunday of D23 Expo 2022 are available for $99 for one-day adult admission and $79 for children ages 3–12. Gold Members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club can purchase tickets for $89 for a one-day adult admission. Single-day Friday and Saturday tickets and three-day passes are sold out. For more information on tickets and D23 Expo 2022, visit D23Expo.com.

Schedule and talent are subject to change.

We are planning on going on Sunday the 11th, so we will be posting from the Anaheim Convention Center. Please stay tuned for more news as it comes in.

As shared by Disney Parks Blog. Wildlife Wednesday: Happy 1st Birthday, Anala & Jeda! #183

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is celebrating the first birthday of the first Sumatran tiger cubs born at the park, Anala and Jeda. To mark the special occasion, our animal care team created a birthday-themed enrichment treat – a “cake” made for them to gnaw and paw. Enrichment is an important part of their care and is stimulating and fun for the animals.
The cubs have had a momentous first year. Both are thriving and have made significant growth in size and skills, as they stay close to their mom Sohni and learn from her lead.

Born weighing roughly three pounds each, Anala and Jeda have grown into robust young cubs. Today, Anala weighs 160 pounds, and Jeda is 167. For the sake of comparison, their father Malosi weighs 290 pounds.

(Cubs shown in photos above at one-month old on left and about seven months old on right.)
The cubs continue to hit all their development milestones and enjoy learning to be tigers – they practice hiding, creeping and pouncing on mom and each other.
As you might expect, Anala and Jeda act like siblings. They have a special bond but differ in many ways. Anala is feisty and independent in spirit. Jeda is more laid back. Both are incredibly intelligent, and guests continue to enjoy watching the tiger family play and explore their habitat on the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

Anala and Jeda have also learned, like their parents, to participate in their own medical care. For example, they respond to certain hand signals or verbal cues by voluntarily opening their mouths or standing on a station for routine weight checks. They also present their tails and paws for inspection on cue.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is proud to play an important role in the worldwide conservation and understanding of Sumatran tigers, a critically endangered species. The birth of these Sumatran tiger cubs was a remarkable event that took nearly three years of planning through the Species Survival Plan (SSP), which is overseen by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and ensures responsible breeding.

Fewer than 500 Sumatran tigers are left in the wild due to threats such as habitat loss, poaching and the illegal wildlife trade. Since 1995, the Disney Conservation Fund has provided more than $2.5 million to 14 nonprofit organizations working to protect tigers and their habitats in the wild. As a part of its focus on saving wildlife, the DCF is also helping the Wildlife Conservation Society and its partners protect tigers in Sumatra, Indonesia, by building support for tiger conservation, combating illegal wildlife trade and supporting community rangers who walked more than 5,600 miles in the last year to patrol 1,700 square miles of tigers’ forest habitat.

You can see Sohni, Malosi and their cubs on the Maharajah Jungle Trek and learn more about tigers by visiting DisneyAnimals.com.

Please follow and watch for more exciting wildlife Wednesdays.

STAR WARS THE LAST JEDI "NYCC" STUNT #167

Although Star Wars: The Last Jedi didn’t host a panel at New York Comic-Con, the booth that Lucasfilm set up may offer an even more exciting glimpse at what’s to come for the series.

The Star Wars: The Last Jedi “Experience” took place in the NYCC booth and was made to replicate a set from the movie. While at first it looked like fans could just mill about looking at props from the film and read informational panels about the new Resistance blasters, the “Experience” soon lived up to its name. Fans were suddenly caught in the middle of a brief skirmish between the Resistance and the First Order in an interactive event that certainly looks like a test run for the upcoming Star Wars theme park land.

The installment was the object of much anticipation at New York Comic-Con earlier this month, with fans flocking to see the collection of props and teasers for Star Wars Episode VIII. But there was more to the booth than met the eye: several fans were picked at random to have their photos projected on the displays around the booth, labeled as Resistance spies.

In the video recap, Stormtroopers entered through a door in the booth, demanding to know where the spies were. Soon the game was afoot, with other Resistance members appearing to spirit away the chosen fans, while BB-8 rolled about. A Kylo Ren appearance and one very cool Force choke effect later, and you’ve got the makings of Star Wars Land.

The best part of this video are the whoops and gasps from the crowd when they realize they’re part of a simulation — the laughs when Kylo Ren dramatically enters probably wasn’t what the actors in the installment predicted, but, oh well. But this was possibly a way for Lucasfilm to test some concepts for the Star Wars land opening in a few years, now called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Opening at both Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida, the Star Wars Lands plan to offer even more interactive experiences: Fans can join the Resistance, work as a bounty hunter or smuggler, or even join the First Order.

The Star Wars Experience at NYCC probably won’t be an exact prediction of the offerings at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, but it showed Lucasfilm and Disney’s commitment to the quality of the experience: the stunts, the force choke, the actual BB-8 robot rolling around on the floor. If they broke out these impressive effects for a booth at New York Comic-Con, who knows what they have in store for an actual theme park?

    Star Wars The Last Jedi....
I wonder if it will be like, how they pick out a Rebel Spy on Star tours. At Disneyland and Walt Disney world.
I guess we will have to wait and see in 2 years at Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.

Rumor might be Confirmed TRON lightcycle rollercoaster to replace WDW Tomorrowland Speedway. #152

In October of 2016, we told you that Walt Disney World was eyeing the addition of the popular TRON Lightcycle Power Run attraction from Shanghai Disneyland, and in April 2017 we updated our rumor when preliminary budgeting teams from Florida were sent out to Shanghai to take a look at the attraction. Well, with the D23 Expo just days away, it now seems certain that the attraction will be announced on Saturday, July 15th.

TRON Lightcycle Power Run, already one of the most popular attractions in Shanghai Disneyland

TRON Lightcycle Power Run will open at the Magic Kingdom just before the park’s 50th birthday (probably 2020/21), replacing the Tomorrowland Speedway attraction which opened in 1971 as the Grand Prix Raceway. The Speedway will likely close sometime in 2018 to make way for this construction.

We feel fairly confident about calling this announcement “confirmed” since several unrelated sources within the Walt Disney Company are now providing this information.

This info was posted originally from WDW News Today.

Embrace the Pirates Life with a Sneak Peek, Posters & Sweepstakes Inspired by Disney’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ #127

Embrace the Pirates Life with a Sneak Peek, Posters & Sweepstakes Inspired by Disney’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’
Excitement is building for this summer’s release of Disney’s rip-roaring adventure “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” New posters have just been released, featuring Captain Jack Sparrow and other characters from the new movie, and beginning April 21, guests visiting Disney Parks and Resorts will be able to preview scenes from the film in sneak peeks planned for Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, and Disney Cruise Line!

At Disney California Adventure park, the preview of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will be presented in 3D with special in-theater effects at the Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land, while guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will get to see this advance look at clips from the film as part of the One Man’s Dream attraction. If you’re heading out to sea with Disney Cruise Line, you can enjoy a sneak peek aboard all four ships in the fleet, on select sailings this summer.

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The epic tale finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
Plan to catch our sneak peek of scenes from the film at Disney Parks and on Disney Cruise Line starting April 21, and set sail with “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” in 3D on May 26, when it has its premiere at sea aboard the ships of Disney Cruise Line and is released to theaters across the U.S.

Experience the Magic of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. #116

Did you see Disney’s new live-action adaptation “Beauty and the Beast” this weekend? If you’re as enchanted as we are, you’re in luck! At Disney Parks and Resorts, there’s no shortage of ways you can experience this timeless tale for yourself.

Watch the story unfold before your eyes during Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or let Belle herself take you into the story during Enchanted Tales with Belle at Magic Kingdom Park. Experience the comedic, abbreviated version when The Royal Theatre Presents Beauty and the Beast at Disneyland park, and step into The Beast’s Library at Disney California Adventure park to find your place in the story.
For those who haven’t seen the new movie, catch the special sneak peek at One Man’s Dream in Disney’s Hollywood Studios or at Sunset Showcase Theater at Disney California Adventure park. A collection of props and costume pieces used in the film’s production will be on display through this weekend.

You can Be Our Guest and dine inside the Beast’s castle at Magic Kingdom Park, step into Lumiere’s Kitchen at Shanghai Disneyland or sail away with Disney Cruise Line for a taste of Lumiere’s on the Disney Magic. At Disneyland park, Fantasyland has transformed with limited-time offerings inspired by the movie, including treats at Red Rose Taverne. Try the Grey Stuff – it’s delicious! This spring, Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel will also offer afternoon tea and pastries themed to the iconic tale.
Of course, no visit is complete without a glimpse of Belle herself. She makes a point of stopping by all of our parks, including Disneyland Paris in her native France. You might even spot Gaston near his tavern in Magic Kingdom Park or catch him when he’s at Disneyland park, walking through Fantasyland trying to impress the ladies.

As we continue to expand across the globe, we’re looking for even more ways to bring this beloved fairytale to life. Starting in November, Disney Cruise Line guests can enjoy a brand new musical production inspired by the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” on board the Disney Dream. Fans will also be able to climb aboard “enchanted dishes” and break the spell at Beast’s Castle in a new “Beauty and the Beast” themed area coming to Tokyo Disneyland as part of its Fantasyland expansion.
We’ve also just announced the chance to embark on a real-life journey that celebrates the inspiration behind “Beauty and the Beast” during Adventures by Disney Rhine River Cruises next year. You can visit a French village that inspired Belle’s small provincial town, belt out your favorite songs at karaoke nights, attend cooking classes, and enjoy screenings of both the animated feature and live-action film.
With so many ways to experience “Beauty and the Beast” at Disney Parks and Resorts, what are you looking forward to the most? Let us know in the comments below.

HAPPY 45TH ANNIVERSARY WALT DISNEY WORLD. 45 YEARS AGO OCTOBER 1ST ORLANDO FL. 1971 #86

My artist friend Posted this beautiful piece on Facebook and I wanted to share his art, for the 45th Anniversary of Walt Disney World.
If you click on the picture, you can enlarge it.

Hi, my name is Robert Lisinsky and I'm an aspiring artist in the Orlando, Florida area.  As some of you may know, Walt Disney World turns 45 this Saturday, October 1. I wanted to make an original poster for the event, and I'm happy to have the opportunity to share it here. After a little research, I found out that the "traditional" 45th anniversary gift is a sapphire, so I used that as the theme of the decorations in my poster. I included attractions and landmarks that were there on opening day, with Cinderella Castle being the most prominent and most decorated with blue and silver banners and the blue roofs turned into "sapphires". I had to pick and choose among what was there on opening day, but I felt it was important to include the Country Bear Jamboree (represented by Big Al) and the Hall of Presidents since they were unique to the Florida resort when it opened.  I included the Orange Bird for the same reason.  I specifically included the Roy O. Disney locomotive so my poster would have both Walt Disney's and Roy Disney's names on it.  Without Roy's dedication after Walt's passing, there probably would not be a Walt Disney World today. The original is 11" X 17" and is done entirely with colored pencils.  Can you find the Hidden Mickey? You can Reach Robert at https://facebook.com/robert.lisinsky.art?__mref=message_bubble

Thank you, Mitchell, for the invitation!
    Robert

Who remembers those old commercials?   Come visit Walt Disney World in Florida. the newest theme park, the size of San Fransisco.
I wish I could say more about this Theme park, But I was born in California, I keep saying I will make it to Florida before I die. I am 51 years old now.
I need to go. My wife used to live at WDW, But she moved to the original park to live with me.
Here are some pictures from 1971 or earlier.

Happy Anniversary Walt Disney World. 45 Years of Magic.
