A MAGICAL EVENING OF SPARKLING LIGHTS WITH THE DISNEY PARKS BLOG #117
Experience the Magic of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. #116
Watch the story unfold before your eyes during Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or let Belle herself take you into the story during Enchanted Tales with Belle at Magic Kingdom Park. Experience the comedic, abbreviated version when The Royal Theatre Presents Beauty and the Beast at Disneyland park, and step into The Beast’s Library at Disney California Adventure park to find your place in the story.
For those who haven’t seen the new movie, catch the special sneak peek at One Man’s Dream in Disney’s Hollywood Studios or at Sunset Showcase Theater at Disney California Adventure park. A collection of props and costume pieces used in the film’s production will be on display through this weekend.
You can Be Our Guest and dine inside the Beast’s castle at Magic Kingdom Park, step into Lumiere’s Kitchen at Shanghai Disneyland or sail away with Disney Cruise Line for a taste of Lumiere’s on the Disney Magic. At Disneyland park, Fantasyland has transformed with limited-time offerings inspired by the movie, including treats at Red Rose Taverne. Try the Grey Stuff – it’s delicious! This spring, Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel will also offer afternoon tea and pastries themed to the iconic tale.
Of course, no visit is complete without a glimpse of Belle herself. She makes a point of stopping by all of our parks, including Disneyland Paris in her native France. You might even spot Gaston near his tavern in Magic Kingdom Park or catch him when he’s at Disneyland park, walking through Fantasyland trying to impress the ladies.
As we continue to expand across the globe, we’re looking for even more ways to bring this beloved fairytale to life. Starting in November, Disney Cruise Line guests can enjoy a brand new musical production inspired by the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” on board the Disney Dream. Fans will also be able to climb aboard “enchanted dishes” and break the spell at Beast’s Castle in a new “Beauty and the Beast” themed area coming to Tokyo Disneyland as part of its Fantasyland expansion.
We’ve also just announced the chance to embark on a real-life journey that celebrates the inspiration behind “Beauty and the Beast” during Adventures by Disney Rhine River Cruises next year. You can visit a French village that inspired Belle’s small provincial town, belt out your favorite songs at karaoke nights, attend cooking classes, and enjoy screenings of both the animated feature and live-action film.
With so many ways to experience “Beauty and the Beast” at Disney Parks and Resorts, what are you looking forward to the most? Let us know in the comments below.

Pirate Treasure Inspires 50th Anniversary Collection For Beloved Swashbuckling Voyage at Disneyland Park #115
The beloved swashbuckling voyage to a long forgotten time when pirates wrought havoc on the high seas celebrates its 50th anniversary this year at Disneyland Resort. The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction opened on March 18, 1967, in New Orleans Square, and quickly became an instant classic. To celebrate this milestone anniversary, we are releasing commemorative apparel and collectible pins this month in Disneyland park. I recently spoke with Graphic Designer Quynh Kimball, an 18-year Cast Member who works for Disney Design Group, about the inspiration behind the pin collection.
“We wondered what kind of pins would be released if Disney Pin Trading had been available in 1967,” explained Quynh. “The merchandising team and I watched the ‘Wonderful World of Disney’ opening day television special. We loved seeing pirates invading New Orleans Square to officially open the attraction. I could only imagine the delight guests felt as they experienced for the first time what have become iconic Disney attraction scenes. We included several of those scenes in the pin designs.”
Guests will find several individual limited edition pins, each with an edition size of 2,500. The individual limited edition pins will also be offered in a boxed set containing one completer pin (500 edition size).
“My favorite scenes include the man playing a banjo on his porch and the plunge down two waterfalls into Dead Man’s Cove,” said Quynh. “I thought the treasure chests with colorful gems were a great nod to the pirates in the latter scene. Those pirates are frozen in time and will never take home those chests filled with jewels, but our guests can with these pins [laughs].”
In addition to pins, guests will find two commemorative “I Was There” shirts.
One shirt was designed specifically for Annual Passholders, who may also find a collectible limited edition pin (3,000 edition size). Passholders should present a valid Annual Pass in order to purchase the exclusive shirt and pin.
The limited edition pins, Annual Passholder pin, and boxed pin set will be released on March 16 in the following Disneyland park locations: Westward Ho located in Frontierland; 20th Century Music Co. on Main Street, U.S.A.; and Little Green Store Command in Tomorrowland. Guests may also find these items at Disney’s Pin Traders in Downtown Disney District.
The “I Was There” Shirts will be offered in both Disneyana on Main Street, U.S.A., and Pieces of Eight in New Orleans Square on March 18. Guests may also find a version of the red-colored shirt via DisneyStore.com/ParkEvents from March 20-26. Please allow 3-5 weeks for delivery.
The park also offered a Pirates 50th anniversary Stein, it sold out by noon on Thursday, but will be restocked Today on the Anniversary of the ride POTC.

Pirates Of the Caribbean has always been my favorite ride.It is a Must Ride before we leave to go home. Pirates has been re-invented in the POTC movie franchise, Starring Johnny Depp, Jack the Monkey, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley and Geoffrey Rush. just to name a few of the actors. You will be able see them once again in the upcoming POTC Dead Men Tell No Tales movie this summer.
The Bootstrappers are a fun lively band that interact with guests, But watch out for Timekeeper and Sockhead Syd, Among other rum loving Pirates. You can Find Jack . Oops!! Captain Jack Sparrow, popping up everywhere. We ran into him at the 2015 D23 Expo. As I am sure we will run into him again at this July's D23 Expo.
Here are some more classic photos of the attraction.
I am a Fan of this ride, One of the last rides that Walt Disney created before he passed away.
I have been making a painting of Captain Barbossa.
